Draper Edward Fuquay

Draper Fuquay, 76, of 228 Seventh Street, Yanceyville, NC, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, February 4, 2021, at SOVAH Health in Danville, Virginia, after a brief illness. Draper was born in Caswell County on February 28, 1944, son of the late Chester Edward Fuquay and Lala Marie Edwards Fuquay. He lived all of his life in Caswell County. Draper worked 30 years for Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company until his retirement. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1965 to 1969. He loved the Lord and he was a very active and faithful member of Welcome Baptist Church. He served as a Deacon and former Sunday School Teacher. He is survived by his wife, Cheryl Long Fuquay; daughters: Michelle Milam (Billy) of Sutherlin, Va., Lori Watlington (Kin) of Yanceyville, N.C., and Cathy Fuquay (Ricky Morris) of Providence, N.C.; granddaughters: Rachel Watlington, Hannah Watlington, Sarah Kate Watlington, Lilly Milam, Emma Milam, and Grace Milam; brothers: Cleo Fuquay (Faye), Glenn Fuquay (Lugene), and Cecil Fuquay; sisters: Alice Glasgow (Mike) and Bonnie Koch (Harold); and a host of nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by one son, Draper “Eddie” Fuquay, Jr. Draper was a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather. His six granddaughters had their Papa wrapped around their fingers. He had a bright and energetic personality that touched everyone he came in contact with. Draper was the man behind the camera at every family gathering and sporting event. He was the one that you could call on for anything, at any time, and he would be there within minutes. He was the family mechanic, gardener, and handyman. He enjoyed playing cards and other games with his granddaughters. He was filled with love and kindness for everyone. The Funeral service will be conducted Thursday, February 11, 2021, at 2:00 p.m. at Welcome Baptist Church, 7502 NC Hwy 62 North, Blanch, N.C. 27212 with Kin Watlington officiating. Interment will follow the service in the church cemetery with military honors conducted by U.S. Air Force Honor Guard.
