Harold McCain

Harold Dean McCain, 79, of 183 Pemberton Street, Yanceyville, NC passed away at home on July 31, 2017. Harold was born in Caswell County on July 14, 1938 a son of the late Willie and the late Pearl McCain. He lived his entire life in the Caswell County area. Harold graduated from Bartlett Yancey High School in 1956 and attended East Carolina University. He is a member of Pleasant Grove Presbyterian Church. Harold worked at Caswell Knitting Mills. He worked at the Caswell Messenger starting at the bottom up to ownership and he also started WYNC radio station in Yanceyville, NC. He was former owner of Brookneal Chevrolet in Brookneal, Virginia. Harold worked as General Manager of Womack Press prior to becoming owner of McCain Printing where he retired at age 47. After retiring he became a full time cattle farmer. Harold was a proud member of the Danville Chapter of AA. He was President of the Board of Directors for the Caswell Parrish, served on the Board of the Virginia Printers Association, Volunteer Fireman, a Jaycee and was an Elder at Pleasant Grove Presbyterian Church. He attended two years of Costa Rica mission trips. Harold is survived by his wife, Faye Cantrell McCain of the residence. He is also survived by three daughters, Angela (Angy) Turner of Blanch, NC, Deana Holmes of Burlington and Lisa Webster and husband Gary of Yanceyville, NC, bonus daughter, Ana Asturias and husband Edgar of Winston Salem, NC, six grandchildren, Jonathan Williamson and wife LaCosta, Cory Webster and wife Jamie, Jennifer Holmes, Megan Turner, Casey Webster, Addison Turner, two bonus grandsons Andres Asturias, Gabby Asturias, four great grandchildren Savannah Webster, Gracelynn Turner, Jason Oliver II and Jayden Oliver. Harold was predeceased by one sister, Mavis McCain Oakley. A Funeral Service for Harold will be held Thursday, August 3, 2017 at 2:00 pm at Pleasant Grove Presbyterian Church by Rev. Parks Williams and Vernon Massengill. Interment will follow in the Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday, August 2, 2017 from 6:00 – 7:30 pm at Wrenn-Yeatts Yanceyville Chapel. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Pleasant Grove Presbyterian Church c/o of Traci Coleman, 94 Mary Jane Bigelow Road, Yanceyville, NC 27379 or to the Danville Chapter of AA in which the donations can be left with his family members.
