Ann Rainey Porch

Ann R. Porch of Danville, Virginia, left for her Heavenly home on June 6, 2026 after a decline in health. She was surrounded by those she held dear. She was born in Roanoke Rapids, NC, on November 21, 1943, to Irvin B. Rainey and Margaret E. Rainey. She was predeceased by her sweet husband, Morris W. Porch, her two brothers, Thomas and Boots Jr., and her parents. She met the love of her life, Morris, at 15 years old in Roanoke Rapids High School. They married in 1961 and spent 63 years of happiness together. She lived a full and giving life, enjoying time with her family, friends and especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is survived by two sons, Wayne (Kristi), and Anthony (Leigh Ann), one daughter, Krista (Beau), three granddaughters, Abigail (Bradley), Amelia (Dillion), Liza, and one grandson, Ethan (Ashley). She also has four precious great grandchildren, Graham, Preston, Avery and Elliott. Ann, along with Morris, were faithful members of North Main Baptist Church since 1979. She served on numerous committees within the church throughout the year, forming many beautiful friendships that they deeply cherished. She and Morris co-directed the “Judgement House” ministry for over 40 years, which was a labor of love for them both. She was an advocate for Operation Christmas Child, organizing the collection of shoeboxes as well as a volunteer at the Boone, NC, distribution center. She formed a women’s group within the church to minister to the community, creating tight bonds with each member. She loved to play bridge and card games with friends, spent many nights playing board games with family, loved flowers, canning, crafts, and sharing with others. Anyone that knew her also knew her love for collecting blue and white china, cobalt glass and nutcrackers. Her favorite place was Emerald Isle, NC, where she loved watching the waves and listening to the ocean. Ann did everything with love, and gave herself tirelessly to others. Nothing meant more to her than her family, and the hole she leaves is indescribable. Funeral services will be held at North Main Baptist Church on Friday at 3:00 pm The family will receive friends prior to service starting at 2:00 pm. The children, spouses and other family members would like to thank everyone who ministered to her during her time of illness, and especially for the loving friendships that meant so much to her.
