Annie Mae Hughes Hodnett

Annie Mae Hughes Hodnett, 92, formally of Old Richmond Rd, Keeling, VA, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Tues., June 26, 2018 at Stratford Health and Rehab. Mrs. Hodnett was born in Halifax County, VA on Sept. 6, 1925, daughter of the late Robert Cuble Hughes and Mary Emma Chandler Hughes. She spent most all of her life in the Keeling community of Pittsylvania County where she was a homemaker. Mrs. Hodnett was a member of Mt. Tabor Baptist Church where she was very active serving as Financial Secretary, a member of the choir, and a nursery worker. She also served on the board of deacons, and various other church committees. On Oct. 23, 1945, she married Henry Bailey Hodnett, who died on Dec. 10, 1982. In addition to her husband and parents she was predeceased by brothers, George Hughes, Joe Hughes, Garland Hughes, and Woodrow Hughes; sisters, Alice Hughes, Sallie Anderson, Elise Owen, and Emma White; and one grandchild. Survivors include two sons, HB Hodnett, Jr. and wife Sheila of Keeling, VA, and Albert Hodnett and wife Doris of Keeling, VA; one daughter, Cathy Owen and husband Paul of Dallas, TX; sister, Thelma Bane of Vernon Hill, VA; five grandchildren, Andy Hodnett of Charlotte, NC; Robbie Hodnett (Anika), of Danville, VA, Amy Moore (Darren) of Chatham, VA, Courtney Collins (Joshua) and Matt Owen (Becca) all of Dallas, TX; six great grandchildren, Drew Hodnett, Ft. Sam Houston, TX; Andre Hodnett, Charlotte, NC; Logan Morris of Danville, VA, Bailey, Maddie and Katie Moore, all of Chatham, VA. Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, June 29, 2018 at 2:30 PM at the Wrenn-Yeatts North Main Chapel with the Reverends Carl E Burger and Mitchell Cifers officiating. Interment will follow the service in the Hodnett Family Cemetery in Keeling, VA. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1 PM to 2:15 PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial donations be made to Mt. Tabor Baptist Church, PO Box 103, Keeling, VA 24566 or Keeling Volunteer Fire Dept., PO Box 12, Keeling VA 24566. The family wishes to express their heartfelt appreciation for the kind and compassionate care provided by the staff of Stratford Health and Rehab, Liberty Hospice, and our dear friend Carol Walton.
