Dewey Clinton Williamson, 84, of 6309 Whispering Pines Road, Cascade, Virginia died at Danville Regional Medical Center on the Thursday, July 23, 2009. He was born March 19, 1925 in Bennett, NC. He was the son of the late Herbert Williamson and the late Clora Manes Williamson. He is married to Shirley Jane Hazelwood Williamson. He was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church. He retired following 28 years of service from American Furniture Company in 1987. He is known as Will or Willie by many of the members of the Brosville Community where he always lent a hand to neighbors and friend. He is survived by four daughters, Brenda Steed and husband William of Stony Creek, North Carolina; Sandra Bryant of Liberty, North Carolina; Audrey Wright Snyder and husband Evan of Madison, Virginia; and Cindy Hankins of Danville; and two sons, James Robert Williamson and wife Mary, of Rockingham, North Carolina, and Walter Wright and his wife Debbie, of Collinsville. Mr. Williamson is also survived by a brother, Howard Williamson and his wife Marion of Blairs; and two sisters Effie Oskey and Mildred Wilson and her husband Douglas, and a sister-in-law, Lois Williamson, all of Danville; and 16 grandchildren, Leslie Quick, David Williamson, Bruce Kidd, Elizabeth Diona Kidd, April Locke, Jason Garner , Carly Johnson, Kendra Snyder, Robin Snyder, Eric Hankins, James Hankins III, Sierra Meadors , Samantha Dotson, Sara Wright, Michael Hall, Leigh Anne Baker; and 6 great-grandchildren Michaela Lock, Alyson Kidd, Braelyn Kidd, Abigail Garner, Chevis Spencer Jr., and Anthoine Adams. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his son, Dennis Williamson, and two brothers, John Lloyd Williamson and Eli Williamson. Mr. Williamson also leaves behind his companion, Nikki, and close friends Maggie Burr of Hanover, Indiana and Sylvia Melson, Gertrude Brinkley, Zora Evans, and Frances Goggins, all of Cascade. Funeral service will be held Saturday, July 25, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. from Wrenn-Yeatts Funeral Home, Westover Chapel with Rev.John Meadows officiating. Interment will follow in Danville Memorial Gardens. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00a.m. and at other times will be at the residence, 6309 Whispering Pines Road.
