Dimple White

Mrs. Dimple Jean Thompson White, age 74, of 6968 Fox Run Road, Linden, N.C., passed away at Womack Army Medical Center, Fort Bragg, N.C. on Saturday, June 12, 2010 after a decline in health for the past eight months. Mrs. White was born on February 5, 1936 in Danville, Va., a daughter of the late Clarence Thompson and the late Reva Dawson Thompson. She had lived her earlier life in Danville where she had attended Langston High School.She had lived the past thirty two years in the Fayetteville, N.C. area. She was a graduate of Fayetteville State University and had completed her degree in Intermediate Education and graduated Cum Lauda in 1984. She was employed as an Elementary Teacher with the Moore County Public Schools until her retirement in 1999 and had continued teaching in the Cumberland County Public Schools System. She was a member of Piney Grove Baptist Church in Fayetteville. She was a devoted military wife, married to Herbert Burk White (retire US Army) who predeceased her on April 21, 1979. Mrs. White is survived by six children, LaBonnie W. Binyard of Fayetteville, N.C., Derek R. White, Dimple Denise White both of Linden, N.C., Donna Lee Pope and husband, Michael of South Bend, Ind., Connie Delores Moore and husband, David of Stock Bridge, Ga., Herbert B. White, Jr. and wife, Andrea of Lorton, Va., two sisters, Evelyn Pendergrass of Danville, Va., Shelia Brown and husband, Michael of Jonesboro, Ga., three brothers, Clarence Thompson, Jr., Renaldo Thompson both of Danville, Va., Tommy Thompson and wife, Carrie of Alexandria, Va., five grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Mrs. White was predeceased by a brother, Seebert Thompson. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm., Thursday, June 17, 2010 at Union Street Missionary Baptist Church by Rev. Charles Hairston, Rev. Sammy Griffin and Rev.Thurman Eckerds, Jr. Interment will follow in Oak Hill cemetery. The family will receive friends at Wrenn-Yeatts North Main Chapel on Wednesday evening, June 16, 2010 from 7:00 to 8:30 pm. At other times the family will be at 611 North Ridge Street, Danville, Va. Wrenn-Yeatts North Main Chapel is respectfully serving the White family.
