Tommy Robertson

Fredrick Thomas "Tommy" Robertson, 28, of Danville, Virginia, passed away on Wednesday, January 15, 2025. Born on September 14, 1996, Tommy was the son of the late Fredrick "Fred" Morris Robertson and Sharon Whitt Robertson of Danville. He is survived by his sister, Rebecca Robertson of Salisbury, North Carolina; custodial uncle and aunt, Donald and Ginny Robertson of Stoneville, North Carolina; maternal grandmother, Maxine Whitt of Danville; recently connected half-brother, Brent Baker of Ringgold, Georgia; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and other family members. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Fredrick Eldridge Robertson and Mildred Smith Robertson of Collinsville, Virginia, and maternal grandfather, Claiborne Keister Whitt, Jr. of Danville. A 2014 salutatorian graduate of John M. Langston Focus School, Tommy recently discovered a talent for building and worked in general contracting. His curiosity and sense of adventure led him to seek new experiences, including a trip with Teens Westward Bound out west to California when he was a teenager and a stint living in the Pacific Northwest later in life. Tommy had many interests growing up, including being an active member of Boy Scout Troop 566 of Stoneville, North Carolina, where he achieved the rank of Life Scout. He had many years of karate classes and participated in various sports teams through school and the recreation department. More than anything, Tommy loved his dad and inherited his father’s green thumb and ability to cook a good steak. He found true joy and passion in cooking and making food for his family and friends, which was how he expressed his love. Tommy was an avid reader and shocked his teacher when he read the first Harry Potter book in the second grade. He carried his love of reading, literature, and the quest for knowledge throughout his life. He was deeply inquisitive and introspective and expressed himself through art depicting the cosmic universe. Tommy loved being outdoors and exploring the town on his skateboard. He had a sharp sense of humor and could always deliver an unexpected one-liner. When Tommy laughed, he lit up like the sun. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Please take a walk in nature, care for a plant, read your favorite book, or cook a good steak when you want to feel close to him again. A funeral service will be held on Monday, January 20, at 2 p.m. at Wrenn-Yeatts Funeral Home, 703 North Main Street, Danville. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the National Harm Reduction Coalition in Tommy’s memory.
