Harry Miles Brown

Harry Miles Brown, 85, of Ringgold, VA, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, April 10th, 2026, at his residence, surrounded by his loving family. Harry was born on June 15th, 1940, to the late Harry Gordon Brown and Elma Warren Brown. Harry spent his life in the Danville and Ringgold area where he made countless friends and many memories with his family. He went above and beyond to help his family and others in need. Harry retired from Dan River Mills where he worked in the Store Room. Harry was a committed member of Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church, where he started attending when he was only three days old. Harry served as Administrative Chairman of the Board as well as many other positions including working alongside his wife, Gerry, on the worship area for over 20 years. On March 23, 1980, Harry married Geraldine Moss Hicks Brown, who survives. In addition to his wife, Harry is survived by his son, William Trent Hicks (Tammy Laws Hicks); three grandchildren, Tiffany Lynn Hicks, Benjamin Trent Hicks, and Brittany Ann Hicks (who knew him as Papa); a sister, Rachael B Osmus; nephews, Jerry Walker, Carroll Walker (Martha), and Michael Walker (Charlotte); niece, Kathy Osmus; along with many great nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Harry was predeceased by his brother, Ryland Benwood Brown, and sister Jerrine B. Walker. A funeral service for Harry will be held on Thursday, April 16th, 2026 at 1:00 p.m. at the Wrenn-Yeatts Funeral Home, Westover Chapel, with Reverend Daryl Joyce officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service on Thursday from 12:00 p.m. until 12:45 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow the service in Danville Memorial Gardens. At other times, the family will receive friends at the residence, 1564 Old Quarry Road, Ringgold, VA. 24586. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Ringgold Fire & Rescue, PO Box 10, Ringgold, VA, 24586. The family would like to express a special “thank you” to the staff of Commonwealth Hospice especially Harry’s Care Team; Laura Swift, Carolyn Holland, Daryl Joyce, and Cassandra Stephens.
