Jacqueline Gammon Henderson

Jacqueline (Jackie) Oneida Gammon Henderson, 91 of Danville, VA passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Wednesday, December 31, 2025 at Sovah Health Hospice in Danville after several years of declining health. Jacqueline was born on September 12, 1934 in Danville, VA. She was the daughter of the late Belinda Ingram Gammon and William Raymond Gammon. Jackie married the love of her life, the late Earl Norman Henderson on July 31, 1954 in Danville. Jackie lived in Danville her entire life. After graduating high school, Jackie found her calling as a Ma Bell (AT&T) telephone operator. As time progressed, Jacqueline stepped down from her position at work to start a family. In earlier years, while raising her family, Jacqueline enjoyed creating and maintaining her vegetable garden. In addition, Jackie was an avid couponer and refunder. Jackie’s passion for animals was immense. Two or three pets were a constant presence around the house. It wasn’t unusual to see stray dogs or cats strolling through the yard, in which she always made sure they were fed, and a few strays ended up as pets. In later years, Jacqueline dabbled in Genealogy. Jackie loved nothing better than a good cup of coffee, a bowl of ice cream and dark chocolate with her trusted pet Babygirl by her side. But, the most cherished loves in Jackie’s life were her four children. Jackie was of Catholic faith and a dear wife, loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great, great grandmother and wonderful friend. She will be forever missed. Those left to cherish Jacqueline’s memory include her children; Aleisha (Scott) Patchin, Rock Island, IL, Maureen (Bill Kropac) Oxford, Gretna, VA, Eric (Pam) Henderson, Randleman, NC, and Lorna Patrice (Tommy Gibson) Abbott of Danville, VA. Jacqueline leaves behind six grandchildren; Wesley Wall (Alicia), Jacqueline Adkins (Josh Coyle), Spencer (Brandi) Henderson, Ian Henderson, Phillip Rickman and Christina Abbott. Five great grandchildren; Kaleb Adkins, Aiden Coyle (Lil Eddie), Artie Coyle, Grace Jackson and Jordan Thomas. Four great, great grandchildren; Alicia Adkins, Luna Adkins, Bella Adkins and Saylor Adkins. Jacqueline also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews with two special nieces, Cynthia Owens Hewitt and Diana Raines. In addition to Jackie’s husband and parents, she was preceded in death by six siblings; Gloria Helen Gammon Owens, Colleen Francis Gammon Parker, William Raymond Gammon, Jr, Ronald Daves Gammon, Nelson Wayne Gammon and Bettie Jane Gammon Keesee; one great grandchild, Zoe Elise Coyle and her beloved pet dog, Babygirl. Funeral services for Jackie will be conducted on Saturday January 10, 2026 at 1:00 p.m. from the Wrenn-Yeatts Westover Chapel with the Pastor Wade Rowland officiating, Interment will follow at Highland Burial Park. The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. to 12:45 p.m. prior to the service. Memorials may be made in Jacqueline’s memory to Danville Fire and Rescue or Danville Life Saving Crew or Cherrystone Veterinary Hospital in Tightsqueeze, VA. The family is grateful for the compassionate care provided by the medical staff at Sovah Health, Danville, VA. and Cone Hospital in Greensboro, NC.
