Johnny William Walker Sr.

Johnny William Walker, SR., 74, of Danville, Virginia, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, June 13, 2026, at SOVAH hospital in Danville, Virginia. Johnny was born on November 20, 1951, in Pittsylvania County, Virginia in the Callands Community to the late Leonard Paul Walker and Edith Elizabeth Herndon Walker. Johnny retired from the City of Danville in 2012. After retirement he worked as a custodian for FCS Industrial Solutions in Danville VA. He was an incredibly dedicated and self-sacrificing man. Working two jobs until his final day shows immense love and responsibility for those he cared about. That level of work ethic leaves a powerful legacy of perseverance and provides something truly meaningful for his loved ones to remember. Johnny was of the Baptist faith and had a very strong belief in God. He was always willing to share scriptural truth with friends and family by quoting Bible verse. He was a very loving and caring person and had very special place in his heart for the welfare of children. On November 20, 1981, Johnny married the love of his life, Kathryn Stephens Walker, who predeceased him in death. Johnny is survived by his daughter Wendy Hyler (Josh) of Danville; brothers Leonard Walker (Jane) of Kentucky , Donald Walker (Joan) of Sutherlin, VA., Darrell Walker (Donna) of Ringgold, VA.; sister Dorothy Walker of Ringgold, VA., And some very close friends Kris Watlington, the Parsons family especially Liam and little John AKA "Monkey" He also leaves behind several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and wife, Johnny was predeceased by his son Johnny William Walker, JR and brothers, Jack Walker and Jessie Walker. A Celebration of Life Services will be conducted on Friday, June 19, 2026, at 3:00P.M. at the Wrenn-Yeatts Funeral Homes, Westover Chapel with Rev. David Abernathy officiating. The family will receive friends on Friday, June 19, 2026, from 2:00 P.M. – 2:45 P.M. at the Wrenn-Yeatts Funeral Homes, Westover Chapel, and at other times at the residence of Wendy and Josh Hyler 603 Walnut Creek Road Danville, VA. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to Feed the Children 333 N. Meridian Oklahoma City, OK 73107 or the Danville Area Humane Society 996 South Boston Rd, Danville, VA 24540 in memory of Johnny William Walker, Sr. Wrenn-Yeatts Funeral Homes, Westover Chapel is respectfully serving the Walker family.
