Russell Dishman Malcolm ?Russell? Dishman, 76 of 242 Westhaven Drive, Danville, VA died on September 25, 2011 in Kindred Hospital after being in declining health for the past two months. Russell was born in the West Fork Community of Pittsylvania County on May 23, 1935 a son of the late Henry Smith Dishman and Berta Eanes Dishman. He had lived most of his life in Pittsylvania County and Danville where he attended the former Brosville High School. Russell had worked for the John W. Daniel Co. for several years before he founded M.R. Dishman & Sons, Inc., Dishman Environmental Inc. Russell also owned Pine Lake Recreational, Dishman Developers Inc. and he developed Westend Estates. He was a member of Nor-Dan Church of Christ and he was a former Cub Master and former member of the Pittsylvania County Planning Commission. He was the last survivor of his generation. On December 5, 1953 he was married to Janice Craig Dishman who survives of the residence. Russell is also survived by three sons Steven Russell Dishman and wife Laurie of Danville, Timothy Alan Dishman and wife Angela, Mark Patrick Dishman and wife Jerri, all of Danville, seven grandchildren Rusty Dishman and wife Dana, Anna Dishman, Drew Dishman, Craig Dishman, Brandon Dishman, Adam Dishman and wife, Ashley and Caitlyn Dishman, one Step-Grandson Max Crum, three Great Grandchildren Rylie Dishman, Jamison Dishman and Baby Gus Dishman. Russell was predeceased by six brothers Henry Dishman, W. Otis Dishman, H.S. ?Buck? Dishman Jr., Cecil E. Dishman, J. Howard Dishman, Wesley E. Dishman and three sisters Myrtle D. Hardy, Ailene D. Inman and Virginia D. Hedrick. Funeral Services will be conducted on Wednesday, September 28, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. from the Wrenn-Yeatts Westover Chapel by Minister Johnny Melton. Interment will follow in Danville Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday night from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. and at other times they will be at the residence, 242 Westhaven Drive, Danville, VA 24541. The family requests that memorial donations be made to Duke Cancer Institute, Melanoma Office of Development, DUMC 3828, Durham, NC 27710.
