Marilyn Reagan Smith

Marilyn Reagan Smith, 72, of Danville went home to be with her Lord on January 9, 2025. Born on December 2, 1952, she was the daughter of the late Audrey Marshall Yeatts and her husband, Ballard Oscar Yeatts. Marilyn was a talented seamstress who devoted many years to Healthtex, where her craftsmanship and meticulous attention to detail were admired by all. She found joy in the art of transforming fabric into something useful and beautiful, whether it was making new curtains for the kitchen, altering a wedding dress, or creating unique Halloween costumes. Sewing was a passion that brought her pride and fulfillment. Above all else, Marilyn’s heart belonged to her family. She loved them deeply and was always willing to go the extra mile to ensure their happiness and well-being. Whether it was crafting a special outfit, preparing a favorite home-cooked meal, or simply offering her unwavering support, Marilyn’s love and dedication were felt in every small and large gesture. Her family was her pride and joy, and her legacy of love and generosity will be fondly remembered by all who knew her. Marilyn was a woman of deep Baptist faith and attended Shermont Baptist Church. Her faith was a guiding force in her life, shaping her values and inspiring her to live with compassion and kindness. Marilyn is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Walter Russell Smith and her two children, Phillip Hankins (Mary) and Crystal Presley (Jason); five grandchildren, Justin Rodriguez, Mathew Hankins, Emily Hankins, Blake Presley, and Ava Presley; one brother, Ronnie Yeatts (Brenda); and her sweet Yorkie, Amy, who was a constant source of comfort and companionship. She was preceded in death by her parents as well as a son, Christopher Hankins; three brothers, Wayne, Danny, and Benny Yeatts and a sister, Carolyn Wilson. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, January 14, 2025 at 6:00 p.m. at the Wrenn-Yeatts Funeral Home, Westover Chapel with Pastor Ryan Riley officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. At other times, the family will be at her residence. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Shermont Baptist Church Building Fund in her honor. Wrenn-Yeatts Funeral Homes, Westover Chapel is respectfully serving the Smith family.
