Ronald Clark McNeely

Mr. Ronald Clark McNeely, 76, died peacefully surrounded by family at Danville Regional Medical Center on December 22, 2014. Mr. McNeely was born on February 1, 1938 in Greenville, S.C., a son of the late Ernest Leo McNeely and the late Bessie Reynolds McNeely Crane. He was employed by Corning Glass Works for thirty two years until his retirement. He served in the U.S. Army. He attended Woodlawn Baptist Church. A man of unwavering faith in the Lord, he took pleasure in worshiping and in studying the Bible, and enjoyed spending time with family and friends, and his beloved cat, Mickey. On May 31, 1980, he was married to Gwen Griffin McNeely, who survives. In addition to his wife of the residence, he is survived by his step-mother, Dolores Noel McNeely of Media, Pa., four children, Ronald Clark McNeely, Jr. of Ringgold, Darlene McNeely Young and husband, Bobby of Charlotte, N.C., Alesia Diane McNeely and Mr. Terry Lambert, Angela Griffin McNeely all of Danville, five grandchildren and one great granddaughter. Also surviving is one sister, Dorothy Cassada and husband, Bobby of Danville, three brothers, Mark Wayne McNeely of Hollidaysburg, Pa., John Thomas McNeely and wife, Kathy of Prospect Park, Pa., Charles Edward McNeely and wife, Teresa of Kennett Square, Pa., several aunts, uncles and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brothers, Linwood D. McNeely, Ernest Leo McNeely, Jr., Thomas Edward McNeely, Todd Lee McNeely and several aunts and uncles. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 am Saturday, December 27, 2014 from Woodlawn Baptist Church, 2500 Westover Drive, Danville, Va. 24541 with the Reverend Ronnie Brown officiating. Interment will follow in Danville Memorial Gardens with Military Rites to be performed by the U.S. Army and American Legion, Dan River Post 1097 Honor Guard. The family will receive friends on Friday, December 26, 2014 from 7:00 to 8:30 pm at Wrenn-Yeatts Westover Chapel, 5858 Riverside Drive, Danville, Va. 24541 and at other times at the residence, 109 Brook Circle, Danville, Va. 24541. The family suggest that memorials may be made to the H.T. Reynolds Evangelistic Association, 4957 Mount Cross Road, Danville, Va. 24540-5333.
