Ronnie Elvin Durham

Ronnie Durham, 76, of Pelham, NC passed away Wednesday, September 10, 2025 at the Durham VA Medical Center after a period of declining health. Ronnie was born on January 25, 1949 to the late Arnold David Durham and Thelma Breeding Durham. Ronnie was born in Danville, VA and raised in Caswell County, NC, where he farmed with his family. He also graduated from Bartlett Yancey High School and later received a degree in welding from Rockingham Community College. Before being drafted into the United States Army in 1969, he was one of the original members who helped start Pelham Vol. Fire Department. Ronnie spent 2 years in the Army where he was a SP4 in the Signal Corp. After returning from Vietnam, Ronnie continued farming and held various positions at Dan River, Southeastern Textile Machinery, Wilson Trucking and the Wastewater Treatment Plant, before he retired. In 1973, Ronnie married the love of his life, Frances Ann Hogan, who survives. Ronnie was also preceded in death by his brother, Ray Durham. Ronnie is survived by his wife of the residence; his son, David Durham and wife Jennifer; and his daughter, Emily Beardsley and husband Jay, all of Pelham, NC. He also leaves behind four grandchildren, Joseph, MeriAnne, Justus, and Ray Jay. His two sisters, Jean Martin and husband Jerry and Nancy Newton and husband Andy, all of Ringgold, VA; sisters-in-law, Linda Durham and Dreama Hogan; brother-in-law, Mike Hogan and wife Julie; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, September 16, 2025 at 2:00 P.M. at Pelham United Methodist Church with the Reverend Larry Durham and the Reverend Sue Morris officiating. Interment will follow the service in the church cemetery with military honors by the VFW Post 7316 and the American Legion Post 89. The family will receive friends on Monday evening at the Wrenn-Yeatts Westover Chapel from 5:30 P.M. to 7:30 P.M. and at other times will be at the home of his son, David. In lieu of flowers the family suggest that memorial donations be made to Pelham United Methodist Church Attn: Cemetery Fund at P.O. Box 82, Pelham, NC 27311 or to the Pelham Vol. Fire Department at P.O. Box 97, Pelham, NC 27311. Wrenn-Yeatts Westover Chapel is respectfully serving the Durham family.
