Wanda Bickford

Wanda Adkins Bickford, 88, 0f 224 Lamberth Drive, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, July 28, 2009. She was born in Greenup County, Kentucky, on February 22, 1921, a daughter of the late Floyd and Laura Adkins. Mrs. Bickford was a member of Riverview Baptist Church where she was once a sunday school teacher. She dedicated her life to serving her Lord and her family. Mrs. Bickford is survived by five children: son Darryl Bickford and wife Dean, son Brice Bickford and wife Phyllis, son Chuck Bickford and wife Joyce, and daughter Kathryn Bickford, all of Danville, and daughter Roselyn Griffin and husband Allen of Clarksville, VA. Mrs. Bickford was blessed with nine grandchildren: Darryl Bickford, Jr., Tracie and husband Kevin Potojecki, Kim Bickford-Harlow and husband Mike, Kelly and husband Chris Cheung, Koy and wife Carole Griffin, Randy and wife Lara Bickford, Gavin and wife Christin Griffin, and Patrick Bickford. Great-Grandchildren include Zachary and Andrew Potojecki, Abigail and Liam Harlow, Grace and Elizabeth Cheung, Kathryn and Olivia Griffin, Maddox Griffin, and Hannah and Graham Jones. In addition, she is survived by a sister Alla Verie Dalton of Providence, NC, and a brother Brice Adkins of Baltimore, MD. She was predeceased on July 28, 2001, by her husband, Charles Randall Bickford. She was also predeceased by a son, John Chester Bickford; a grandson, Jonathan Neal Bickford; two brothers, Estill Adkins and Warren Adkins; and three sisters, Oral Childers, Opal Bowling and Imal Sanders. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 30, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. from the Wrenn-Yeatts, Westover Chapel with the Rev. Dr. Samuel Greeson officiating. Interment will follow in Danville Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, one hour prior to the service. The family will also receive friends at the residence on Wednesday from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The family suggests that memorial donations may be made to the Danville Life Saving Crew, 202 Christopher Lane, Danville, VA 24541. The family wishes to thank caregivers Hazel Thompson, Geraldine Pannell and Maude Samuels for their devotion to Mrs. Bickford, a loving and devoted mother. Wrenn-Yeatts, Westover Chapel is serving the Bickford family.
