Willard Burnett

Willard Thomas Burnett, 80 of 2405 Cavalier Road, Ringgold, VA died suddenly on Friday, April 13, 2012 in Danville Regional Medical Center Emergency Department. Mr. Burnett was born in Milton, NC on November 4, 1931 a son of the late Claude Thomas Burnett and Mary Lou Baggett Burnett. He had lived all of his life in the Ringgold Community of Pittsylvania County. He had retired as owner of Burnett?s Construction Company. Mr. Burnett attended Saint Mark Pentecostal Holiness Church. Mr. Burnett was a life time coon hunter and was well known for his love of the sport. He was active with and hosted local PKC Coon Hunting events. He had been featured in the Virginia Wildlife magazine along with his hunting dogs. On April 12, 1952 he was married to Gertie Mae Burton Burnett who survives of the residence. Mr. Burnett is also survived by two sons Larry T. Burnett & wife Cindy, W. Ray Burnett & wife Lori all of Ringgold, VA, two daughters Barbara B. Moshenek & husband Bob of Ringgold, VA, Phyllis B. Benton & husband Mike of Danville, VA, four sisters Thelma B. Williams,Carol B. Gatewood, Brennie B. Gilbert & Starlette B. Hudson, one brother Melvin D. Burnett, 9 grandchildren Chris Moshenek, Michael Moshenek, Bradd Crews, Katie B. Williams, Larry ?J.R.? Burnett Jr., Kim B. Applegate,Bonnie B. McDarmont, Joshua Burnett & Rayanne Burnett, 8 great grandchildren Jessica Huppert, Will Moshenek, Elijah Moshenek, Grace Williams, Emma Williams, Maddy Applegate, Spencer Applegate & Cole Thomas Burnett. He was predeceased by one brother James E. Burnett. Funeral Services will be conducted on Monday, April 16, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. from the Wrenn-Yeatts Westover Chapel by the Reverend Jerry Foley and Reverend Michael Hearp. Interment will follow in the Burnett Family Cemetery on the Cavalier Farm. The family will receive friends on Sunday evening from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home and they will at other times be at the residence 2405 Cavalier Road, Ringgold, VA 24586. The family suggests that in lieu of flowers memorial donations be made to the American Heart Association, 4504 Starkey Road, Suite 115, Roanoke, VA 24014 or to Ringgold Fire & Rescue P.O.
