William Moore

William "Ruben" Moore, 74, of 3729 Westover Drive, Danville, VA left this world peacefully at his residence to be with his Lord and Savior in the early morning hours of March 15, 2009. Ruben was born in Halifax County on November 13, 1934 a son of the late Flournoy Bouldin Moore and Grace Marilla Moore. He was a graduate of the former Brosville High School. Ruben was well known throughout Danville and the surrounding area for his restaurant that he owned and operated for over 40 years on Riverside Drive (Hwy 58 West). Brad, his son, now carries on his legacy there and also at "Rubens Too" on Route 41. Ruben was an active member of Faith Memorial Baptist Church until recently, where he enjoyed the Men's Fellowship and golf outings. He was also a very avid fisherman, hunter and race fan. On June 23, 1956 Ruben was married to Nancy Dixon Moore who survives of the residence, he is also survived by two daughters Kimberly Moore of Temecula, California, Angela Moore of Danville and one son Brad Moore and wife Donna of Brosville, VA, three grandchildren Kyle, Payton and Kelsey Moore all of Brosville, two brothers Shelton Moore and Keister Moore both of Danville, and four sisters Serrelza Blalock of Winston-Salem, NC, Jean Maggio of St. Petersburg, Florida, Ann Arbogast and Carolyn Megginson both of Danville. He also leaves behind many, many very special caring and loving friends. Among those are very special brothers-in-law, Vic Megginson and Jimmy Dixon. Also Dave Giffen, former business partner, Dennis Dillion, Marvin Moss and Dallas Womack and his faithful dog and protector Maggie. He was predeceased by six brothers, Guy Hoover Moore, Bouldin Moore, Lawrence "Phil" Moore, John Thomas Moore, Douglas Moore and Kenneth Moore. Funeral Services will be conducted on Wednesday, March 18, 2009 at 3:00 p.m. from Faith Memorial Baptist Church by the Reverend Daniel Lackey. Interment will follow in Danville Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the church on Tuesday night March 17, 2009 from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. and other times they will be at the residence 3729 Westover Drive, Danville, VA 24541. The family suggests that in lieu of flowers memorial donations be made to Little Life of Danville, 2960 North Main Street, Danville, VA 24540 or to the Faith Memorial Baptist Church Building Fund, 7450 Martinsville Hwy, Danville, VA 24541.
