Archer A. Wilson II, of 422 Raven Hollow Rd, Ringgold, VA passed away at SOVAH Health Danville on the 3rd of November after a brief illness. Born unto Archer Alexander Wilson, MD and Elva Beverage Wilson in November of 1932. Arch as everyone knew him worked as a teacher at Tunstall High School for many years before moving to Oak Island, NC. While at Oak Island he worked with the recreation departments for Oak Island and for Brunswick County, NC. Arch was a graduate of the Greenbriar Military School he also attended Hampton Sydney and the University of West Virginia where he obtained his Bachelor of Marketing Management. Arch served in the United States Marine Corps Reserves from 1953 until 1959. Most knew of Arch from his officiating days. He was very active with football, basketball and baseball. He worked in three states while officiating, South Carolina, Virginia and finally North Carolina. He retired from officiating in 1987 at the age of 65. Arch was a member of Unity Presbyterian Church and a past Deacon in the Oak Island Presbyterian Church of Long Beach, NC. Arch also served his community by volunteering with the Long Beach Fire Department. He was one of the founders of the Long Beach Water Rescue Team. He also volunteered for many years at Dosher Memorial Hospital in Southport, NC. Surviving are his sons, Brian P. Wilson (Wendy) of Ringgold, Michael Myers Wilson (Sherri) of San Diego, CA, and a daughter Susan Lea Wilson, (John) of San Diego, CA. Also surviving is his companion Lula Wilson and grandchildren, Justin Wilson, Stacie Pulta, Christopher Wilson, Jonathan Wilson, Cade Wesoloski and Cailey Wesoloski, Caleb Koger and Joshua Koger and numerous other nieces and nephews and one Great Granddaughter Sadie Lynn Koger. Arch was predeceased by his parents and his sisters, Francis Goldsmith and Margaret Wilson. The family will receive friends at the residence of his son, Brian & Wendy Wilson, 1317 Ringgold Church Rd, Ringgold through Wednesday, November 6th. The family will have a private memorial service later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to the volunteer Fire Department and/or Rescue Squad of your choice.
