Aubrey “Shank” Ray Dewberry, 74, of 2392 Moorefield Bridge Road, Danville, VA went home to be with his Lord on Monday, August 5, 2019, at his residence after being in declining health for several months. Mr. Dewberry was born in Danville, VA on October 31, 1944, son of the late Aubrey Dewberry and Louise Moore Dewberry. He spent his entire life in the Danville area where he retired as an engineer for Verizon after 39 years of service and was an Air Force veteran. He was a graduate of George Washington High School Class of 1964 and then went on to graduate from Virginia Technical Institute (now D.C.C.). He continued his studies graduating from Greensboro Bible Institute with a Doctorate in Theology in 1984 as Valedictorian and was an ordained minister. He was a member of Holland Road Baptist Church for 40 years and Faith Memorial Baptist Church for the last 12 years. On February 5, 1965, he married Ginger Lee Maddox Dewberry. In addition to his wife of 55 years, Mr. Dewberry is survived by his daughter Wendy Rosner and her husband Jeffrey Rosner of Charlotte, NC; son, Ashly Dewberry and his wife Catherine Dewberry of Nashville, TN; brother, Harold Dewberry and his wife Mary Dewberry of Danville, VA; grandchildren, Madison Aubrey Dewberry and Evalyn Ruby Dewberry; and granddogs, Chompie Dawg Rosner and Millie Meatball Rosner. Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, August 8, 2019 at 2:00 P.M. at Faith Memorial Baptist Church officiated by Pastor Daniel Lackey, Pastor Seth Lackey and Pastor Austin Merricks. Interment will follow the service at Danville Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 12:30 P.M. to 1:30 P.M. at Faith Memorial Baptist Church and at the family residence, 2392 Moorefield Bridge Road, Danville, VA 24541. In Lieu of flowers, the family request memorial donations be made to Faith Memorial Building Fund at 7450 Martinsville Hwy, Danville, VA 24541 or to Mountain Valley Hospice at 730 E Church St, St #13 Martinsville, VA 24112. The family expresses sincere gratitude for the care, love and support given to Mr. Dewberry by Hallmark Home Health Care, Mountain Valley Hospice and the spiritual support from the Pastors at Faith Memorial Baptist Church.
