David Armstead Ragans Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

David Armstead Ragans, 55, of Ringgold, VA, unexpectedly went to be with his heavenly father, surrounded by his wife and children, on Wednesday, October 27, 2021 at Lynchburg General Hospital, Lynchburg, VA. Mr. Ragans was born in Danville, VA, on January 23, 1966, a son of the late David Allen Ragans and the late Rencie Lowery Ragans. He lived most of his life in the Danville area where he owned and operated DA Ragans Trucking for 20 years. He later went to work for VDOT for 20 years. He had a strong relationship with the Lord and was a member of Dan River Church. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting, fishing, camping, cooking, and horseback riding. He was a motocross dad who loved spending time with his two boys. He was a member of the athletic booster club for ten years. In his spare time, he took pride in his lawn and loved cutting his grass. He will be remembered as a hard worker who always provided for his family. On May 23, 1986, he married Joan Adams Ragans, who survives of the residence. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Taylor Ragans (Jenna) and Matthew Ragans (fiancée, Amanda Inman); a granddaughter, Adalynn Travis; two sisters, Rhonda Comer (Kevin) and Marilynne Simpson (Carl); and a special friend, Keith “Buddyro” Landrum. A funeral service will be held on Sunday, October 31, 2021 at 3:00 PM at the Dan River Church with Pastor Scott Randlett officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service and at other times will be at the residence.
