Delmos Ray Barbour Sr.

July 12, 1943 - January 14, 2022

Delmos Ray Barbour, Sr., 78, of 740 Pounds Road, Sutherlin, VA died on Friday, January 14, 2022 at The Brian Center in Fincastle, VA after being in declining health for several years. Mr. Barbour was born in Danville, VA on July 12, 1943, a son of the late Clayton Odell Barbour, Sr. and Virginia Iva Barker Talley. He spent all of his life in the Danville and Pittsylvania County areas where he worked at Goodyear for 30 years as a bead builder until his retirement. He was also a lifetime mechanic and he was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He enjoyed fishing, racing, but most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family. On December 27, 1963 he married, Zina Woodson Barbour who died on March 20, 2012. In addition to his parents and wife, he was predeceased by his step-mother, Arnita Barbour. Survivors include his children, Delmos Ray Barbour, Jr. of Ringgold, VA, Clayton Forest Barbour, (Susie) of Sutherlin, VA and Brian Travis Barbour of Sutherlin, VA; grandchildren, David Barbour, Derek Jones, Destany White, Samantha Barbour, and Danielle Barbour; and his brothers, J.W. Barbour (Mary Ann), Lawson Barbour, Clayton Barbour, Jr., Andy Morris (Sarah), and Lee Barbour (Carrol). Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, January 19, 2022 at 2:00 P.M. at the Wrenn-Yeatts North Main Chapel with Bishop Alan Larson officiating. Interment will follow the service in Danville Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:00 P.M. to 2:00 P.M. at the funeral home and at other times the family will be at the residence, 740 Pounds Road, Sutherlin, VA 24594. Memorial donations can be made to Ringgold Vol. Fire Department or to Kentuck Vol. Fire Department. Wrenn-Yeatts North Main Chapel is respectfully serving the Barbour family.
