James Raymond Kennedy

July 26, 1936 - February 10, 2022

James Raymond Kennedy, 85, of Danville, VA went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, February 10, 2022 at Sovah Health after being in declining health for the last year. Mr. Kennedy was born on July 26, 1936 in Danville, VA, a son of the late Lonnie F. Kennedy and Lilly Mae Whitman Kennedy. He spent all of his life in the Danville area where he was an upholstery specialist; specializing in upholstering cars, boats and even air craft carriers. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. In his spare time, he enjoyed working on model cars and he also enjoyed watching westerns. In September of 1961, Mr. Kennedy married, Doris Elon Arthur Kennedy, who survives. In addition to his wife, Mr. Kennedy is survived by his brother, Lonnie R. Kennedy, Sr. and wife Abbie of Greensboro, NC; a special niece, Linda Shepherd, who provided care for Mr. Kennedy; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by several brothers and sisters. A funeral service will be conducted on Monday, February 14, 2022 at 1:00 PM at the Wrenn-Yeatts North Main Chapel with the Reverend Michael Blythe officiating. Interment will follow in Danville Memorial Gardens with military honors conducted by the American Legion Dan River Post 1097 and the United States Army. Wrenn-Yeatts North Main Chapel is respectfully serving the Kennedy family.
