John David Moss

September 17, 1942 - February 21, 2022

John David Moss, 79, of Danville, VA, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, February 21, 2022. John was born on September 17, 1942 in Danville, VA. He was the son of the late Lawrence Preston Moss, Sr. and Louise Spence Moss Rowe. On June 26, 1971, he married Audrey Turpin Moss, who survives. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sons, John Cameron Moss (Sarah Compton), Jayson Lawrence Moss (Jennifer Moss), David Preston Moss; six grandchildren Daniel L. Moss, Dylan T. Moss, Cameron C. Moss, Katelyn M. Moss, Bryson A. Moss, and Emily C. Moss; one sister Mary Lou Poindexter; two nieces, two aunts, and one uncle. John’s early working career was as a brick mason owning his own company, Moss & Myers Construction Co. His love for cars lead him to pursue a business in automotive sales and he founded Auto Villa where he still worked doing what he loved until his last day there on Saturday, February 19, 2022. John had a passion for street racing in his younger years and then Nascar racing later in life. He proudly sponsored his grandson, Daniel, in car #58 at South Boston and Orange County Speedways where Daniel won championships at both tracks this past year. John was a past member of Riveroak Church of God and currently attended Riverview Baptist Church in Danville, VA. Visitation will be held on Friday, February 25, 2022 between 6:00pm – 8:00pm at Riverview Baptist Church at 523 Park Avenue in Danville, VA. Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 26, 2022 at 1:00pm at Riverview Baptist Church. Conducted by Pastor Daniel Custer. Interment will follow at Danville Memorial Gardens.
