Nancy Reynolds Carey

October 26, 1931 - March 16, 2022

Nancy Lee Reynolds Carey, 90, of Danville, VA, went Home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, March 16, 2022, at her residence. She was born on October 26, 1931, in Snow Creek, VA, a daughter of the late William Reynolds and the late Mary Reynolds Sellers. She spent all of her life in the Danville area where she was a Graduate of Climax High School and attended Averett University. She was a long distance operator for C and P Telephone Company before going to work for Pittsylvania County Schools as bus driver for over 31 years. In her spare time, she loved gardening, sewing, and cooking her famous sour dough rolls. She was a faithful member of Moffett Memorial Baptist Church where she was married to Claude H. Carey, Jr., on October 12, 1952. In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons, Mike Carey and John Carey (Cindy); a daughter, Pam Hawker (Johnny); ten grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and one great grandchild on the way. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a son, Larry Thomas Carey; and a granddaughter, Nicole Carey. A Funeral Service will be held on March 18, 2022 at 2:00 PM at Moffett Memorial Baptist Church with the Reverend Jonathan Hilliard officiating. Interment will follow the service in Highland Burial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM at the church.
