Naomi Hughes

Naomi Hughes passed away very peacefully on January 1 ,2021 after a prolonged illness. She received her Golden Wings after a long and faithful life serving God in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. A lifelong resident of Danville she is survived by her son, Donald W. Shepherd of Danville; granddaughter, Kelly Allen of Charlotte, NC; two great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren; and a very special person to whom she thought of as her daughter, Jo Ann Cannon. She was predeceased by her first husband, Charles Shepherd; son, Dennis Shepherd; grandson, Steve Shepherd; her second husband, W. Fred Hughes; both her parents and her sister. A very heartfelt and sincere thank you to the staff at Brookdale Piedmont and Liberty Hospice for their love, care and concern for her and her family during this difficult time. Due to the Covid outbreak a private graveside service was held in Danville Memorial Gardens. The family is planning on having a memorial service at a later date. Memorial donations can be made to Moffett Memorial Baptist Church or to a charity of your choice. Wrenn-Yeatts Westover Chapel is respectfully serving the family.
