Prindle "Sapphire" Clay Dalton

March 22, 1942 - November 27, 2020

Prindle “Sapphire” Clay Dalton, 78, of Keeling, VA, gained her angel wings on Friday, November 27, 2020, at SOVAH Health Danville, after a decline in health for the past two years. She was born on March 22, 1942, in Halifax County, VA, a daughter of the late Willie Thomas Clay and the late Beatrice Amanda Barksdale. She was a resident of the Keeling Community for the past twenty-eight years where she worked as a Cosmetologist. She was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church. She was very active in her community and supported the Keeling Volunteer Fire Department. She was married to Edward Eugene Dalton, who predeceased her on June 1, 2019. She is survived by two daughters, Shelby Davis (Michael) of Phenix, VA, and Sherry Trent of Keeling, VA; a son, David Trent of Phenix, VA; two step-daughters, Bonnie D. Roberts (Jack), of Danville, VA, and Sandra W. Meyer (Billy), of Dry Fork, VA; a step-son, Randy Eugene Dalton (Michelle), of Keeling, VA; a special adopted daughter, Bessie Johnson; seven grandchildren: Keith Davis, Beth Metcalf, Magin Sparks, Jackson Knott, Kelby Trent, Davanna Trent, and Degan "P-Pi" Trent; seven great grandchildren, Ryan Davis, Danielle Davis, MaKenzie Metcalf, Kole "AKA Kole-Train" Metcalf, Jax Knott, Maggie Sparks, and expected anytime soon, Gunnar Sparks; a step-grandson, Brent Fannin; five sisters, Elaine McGuire, Ramona Elliott, Ethel Bee Moore, Verna Conner, and Norma Kendrick; a special caretaker, Ralph Fannin; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by a step-son, Matthew Kay Dalton; three brothers; and three sisters. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, December 2, 2020 at 12:00 p.m. from the graveside in the Dalton Family Cemetery, Keeling, VA, with the Reverend Michael Myers officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service at the funeral home from 10:00 to 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made to the Oak Grove Baptist Church, 2217 Oak Grove Rd, Keeling, VA, 24566. Wrenn-Yeatts Westover Chapel is respectfully serving the Dalton family.
