Francis "Ray" Hollis, 76, of 608 Upper Street, Danville, VA died on Thursday, June 3, 2021 at his residence. Ray was born in Wallace, North Carolina on June 1, 1945 a son of the late George Hollis and the late Betty Elizabeth Henderson Larson. He worked as a millwright for various companies until her retirement. Ray was a Vietnam Veteran who proudly served his country in the United States Navy from 1969 to 1974. He was a loyal member of the VFW Post 647 and the American Legion Post 325. Ray enjoyed traveling and playing cards with family and friends. He was also a NASCAR fan whose favorite driver was Rusty Wallace. Survivors include his half-brothers, Bobby Lardon and wife Bonnie of Columbia, SC, Kenneth Larson and wife Lisa of Wilson, NC and Rick E. Larson of Currituck, NC; half-sister, Ann Miller and husband Jeff of Cocoa, FL; step-son, Jody Fitzpatrick and wife Makayla of Callands, VA; close family friends, Darrell Ussery and Chris Ussery both of Danville, VA. A memorial graveside service will be held at a later date at the Danville National Cemetery with military honors conducted by the United States Navy. Wrenn-Yeatts North Main Chapel is respectfully serving the Hollis family.
