Roy Arnett Pritchett Sr.

Roy Arnett Pritchett, Sr., 81, of 12240 Mount Cross Road, Dry Fork, VA died Friday, January 21, 2022 at his residence after a decline in his health for the past four months. Roy was born in Pittsylvania County, VA on December 1, 1940, a son of the late Roland Hill Pritchett and Annie Kate Powell Pritchett. He lived his entire life in Dry Fork, VA and was a graduate of Whitmell Farm Life School, Class of 1959. Roy retired after 43 years as a Tobacco Farmer. He was also a co-owner of B & R Oil Company in Dry Fork. He was an avid bluegrass fan and enjoyed camping for the past fifteen years. On October 1. 1960 he married Goldie Taylor Pritchett, who survives. In addition to his wife, of the residence, Roy is survived by a son, Roy A. “Butch” Pritchett, Jr. (Carolyn) of Dry Fork, VA; a daughter, Teresa Pritchett Hall of Dry Fork, VA; five grandchildren, Nicholas Pritchett, Jessica Marrero (Mike), Katie Larkin (Bryce), Lane Pritchett, Justin Hall (Haley); and eight great grandchildren. Roy was the last survivor of his generation. He was predeceased by seven brothers, B.H. Pritchett, Harry Pritchett, Howard Pritchett, Charles W. Pritchett, and Ray H. Pritchett, William Pritchett, and Roland Everett Pritchett; and a sister, Frances P. Green. Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 28, 2022 at 2:00 P.M., at the Wrenn-Yeatts Westover Chapel with the Reverend Mike Hearp officiating. Interment will follow in Danville Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, January 28, 2022 from 1:00 until 2:00 P.M. and at other times the family will be at the residence. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Tunstall Fire & Rescue, P.O. Box 575, Danville, VA 24543 or Swansonville Pentecostal Holiness Church Building Fund. The family request that those attending the service to follow COVID-19 safety protocals of wearing face masks and social distancing.
