Tommy V. Lee Sr.

March 11, 1942 - February 7, 2021

Thomas “Tommy” Vincent Lee, Sr., 78, of Ringgold, VA, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, February 7, 2021, at SOVAH Health in Danville. Tommy was born on March 11, 1942, a son of the late Reverend Clyde Nelson Lee and Louise Smith Lee. Tommy proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corps. He loved spending time with his wife of 27 years, fishing, going to the beach and going to the Durham Bulls ball games. He also enjoyed helping his family sell produce at the Danville Farmer’s Market. For many years, Tommy helped conduct Sunday School services at Piney Forest Health and Rehabilitation Center. He had a great sense of humor and loved telling the latest jokes that he had heard. He also loved taking care of his pets. Survivors include his wife, Renae Newcomb Lee; sister-in-law, Cay Lee of Florida; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Ray and Brenda Newcomb of Turbeville; sister-in-law, Wanda Overby and husband, Ronnie of Turbeville; three nephews, Greg Lee of Richmond, John Patrick Lee and wife Tarran of New York, and Thomas Lee and wife Jennifer of Florida; niece, Savannah Overby of Turbeville; and great nieces, Caroline and Margot Lee of Florida. He was predeceased by his parents, Clyde and Virginia Lee; brother, Jack Lee; a special friend and “second mom”, Margaret McKinney; and “special brother” and fishing buddy, Johnny Moore. In addition to his immediate family, Tommy loved his work family. He worked in the tobacco industry for over 40 years. He worked at Dibrell Brothers, DIMON, Alliance-One, and JTI as a storage manager and receiving supervisor. A graveside service will be conducted on Friday, February 12, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at Highland Burial Park with the Rev. Kenneth Barnes officiating. Military Honors will be conducted by the United States Marine Corps.
