Van Martin Widdifield Sr.

January 23, 1957 - June 3, 2022

Van Martin Widdifield, Sr., 65, of 158 Beech Ave, Danville, VA passed away on Friday, June 3, 2022 at his residence. Van was born in Danville, VA on January 23, 1957, a son of the late Clarence Van Buren Widdifield and Kathleen Megginson Widdifield. He spent all of his life in the Danville area where he went to work as a painter for the Danville Public School system in July of 1993. He then went on to retire in March of 2019 after 25 years of service. He was a member of First Pentecostal Holiness Church. Van was known as an exceptional guitar player. His passion’s in life were playing the guitar, singing and he also loved to go fishing. He was a humble, loving person who would literally give the shirt off his back in order to help a person out. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his brother, Everett Michael Widdifield. Survivors include his loving wife, Kathy Hawker Widdifield of the residence; sons, Van “VJ” Martin Widdifield, Jr. and David Casey Widdifield; his grandchildren, Kamerin, Chelsea, Ashley and Savannah Widdifield; sisters, Donna Davis (Jimmie) and Kitty Francis (Dennis); and his faithful companion, Timber. Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, June 7, 2022 at 1:00 PM at the Wrenn-Yeatts Westover Chapel with Pastor Myron Bruce officiating. Interment will follow the service in Highland Burial Park. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 12PM to 1PM at the funeral home and at other times will be at the residence of his sister, Donna Davis, at 170 Beech Ave Danville, VA 24541. Memorial donations can be made to the First Pentecostal Holiness Church Building Fund. Wrenn-Yeatts Westover Chapel is respectfully serving the Widdifield family.
