Vera Carter Garabedian

March 5, 1923 - December 12, 2019

Vera Carter Garabedian went to be with her Lord and Savior on December 12, 2019 at her home, 183 Crystal Lane, Danville, VA. She was born on March 5, 1923 in Ringgold, VA to the late Sallie Waddell Carter and Robert Oscar Carter. She graduated from Murphy High School in May of 1940. On September 18, 1942, she married Andrew Harry Garabedian of Barrington, RI. They traveled extensively in this country during his 32 year Navy career. She was a member of the Tabernacle. In addition to her parents and husband Vera was predeceased by a brother, Clarence Carter; sisters, Lucille Hammond, Lottie Newell, Empress Dawson and Thelma Atwell; brothers-in-law, James Atwell and Steve Newell; sister-in-law, Edna Carter; niece, Barbara Hammond; and nephew, Billy Stephens. Vera was a loving daughter, sister, aunt and great aunt. She loved to work in her yard and loved to pull weeds. She also enjoyed baking and sharing her goodies with friends, but most of all Vera loved her only daughter and being by her side. Vera is survived by her loving daughter, Yvonne Parrish and her husband Steve; granddaughter, Peyton Parrish all of Danville, VA; and nephews, William Dawson of Pace, FL and Robert Dawson of Crestview, FL. A private graveside service will be conducted in Highland Burial Park with the Reverend Carl Burger officiating. The family would like to recognize Vera’s wonderful sitters, Sheila Collins, Rebecca Miller, Mildred Moore, Starlett Hardy, Gaynell Davis and Celesta Vincent for their care and loving compassion given to Vera and her family during this difficult time. Wrenn-Yeatts North Main Chapel is respectfully serving the Garabedian family.
