W. Allan Tyree Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

W. Allan Tyree, 77, of Danville went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, February 15, 2022. Born in Lynchburg, VA on February 9, 1945 a son of the late Robert Lloyd Tyree and Elizabeth Williams Tyree. Allan came to Danville with the A & P Tea Company for many years then went on to buy into Old Dutch Supermarket and managed the South Main St store until he sold his interest and went to work for Lawrence Distributing until his retirement. He loved baseball and coached and managed little league in Danville for several years. He was an active member of Hillcrest Baptist Church as along as his health permitted. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and was a member of the Sandy Creek Hunting Club. He was a member of the Improved Order of Redmen Poquoson Tribe # 124. He was married to his loving wife of 57 years, Patricia Saunders Tyree, who survives. Survivors also include a son, Stacy Allan Tyree, and wife, Donna, a sister, Frances T. Madison, and a grandson, Cody Allan Tyree (Lhana). A sister, Uldean T. Wells, and a brother, Robert Tyree, predeceased him. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 17, 2022 at 2:00 PM at the Mausoleum Chapel at Danville Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Bob Yeaman officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family suggest that memorial donations be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital. Wrenn-Yeatts Westover Chapel is serving the Tyree family.
