Walter "Frank" Payne Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Walter Franklin Payne, 87, of Eden, NC went home to be with the Lord our Savior on Sunday, July 17, 2022. A funeral service will be held on Friday, July 22, 2022 at 11:00 AM at the Wrenn-Yeatts Westover Chapel with Pastor Amanda Harris Officiating. Interment will follow in Danville Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Friday at the Funeral Home. Frank was born in Spray, NC on September 27, 1934 a son of the late James Thomas Payne and Carrie Wright Payne. Frank retired from Roadway Express where he was a truck driver for 50 years. He was a member of Carroll United Methodist Church in Axton, VA. He enlisted in the US Navy at the age of 18 and served for four years. He was a member of Brosville and Cascade Fire Departments. On May 13, 1967 he married Betty Dillion Payne, who passed away on October 22, 2019. Survivors include two daughters, Bonnie P. Mills (Warren), Cindy P. Martin (Robert, III), four grandchildren, Cooper Martin, Brianna East, Nichole Wyatt, Josh Mills and two great-grandchildren, Shiloh and River Wyatt. He is also survived by four special friends at Brookdale, Shirley, Judy, Jerry, and Herbert. A special thanks to the staff and residents of Brookdale Eden Assisted Living. They have been like an addition to his family for the past year. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial donations be made to Cascade Fire Dept. or to Carroll United Methodist Church. Wrenn-Yeatts Westover Chapel is serving the Payne Family.
