D.C. Hastings

Daniel Campbell “D.C.” Hastings, Jr., 89, of Ringgold, Virginia, died Sunday, June 28, 2026, at his residence after a five-year decline in his health. D.C. was born in Danville, Virginia, on May 29, 1937, the son of the late Daniel Campbell Hastings and Ethel Matherly Hastings. He lived most of his life in Ringgold and retired in 2000 from Virginia Bank and Trust, where he served as President for 20 years. He continued to serve on the Board of Directors until the bank was sold to First National Bank of Altavista in 2020. D.C. was a graduate of Dan River High School, Class of 1955, and the Virginia Bankers Institute. He was a lifelong member of Kentuck Baptist Church and was a member of the Danville Golf Club until his stroke in 2021. He also served on the Board of Directors of Delta Dental for more than 20 years. D.C. will be remembered for his strength, integrity, and devotion to his family. He was a trusted leader, a faithful friend, and a devoted father and grandfather who took great pride in his family. He loved golf and made many lifelong friends on the course. On May 18, 1957, D.C. married the love of his life, Carol Booth Hastings. They shared nearly 69 years of marriage before Carol's death on January 16, 2026. In addition to his wife, D.C. was preceded in death by his brother, Harold Hastings. Survivors include his son, John Daniel Hastings (Dianne) of Midlothian, Virginia; his daughter, Denise H. Kampfmueller (Meade) of Midlothian, Virginia; five grandchildren, Bradford Hastings (Ashley), Mary Hastings, Patrick Kampfmueller (Katie), Kelly Kampfmueller, and Ryan Kampfmueller; one great-grandson, Campbell Hastings; two sisters, Barbara Edmonds of the Spring Garden Community, of Chatham, Virginia; and Kate Moss of Chatham, Virginia; and one brother, Jerry Hastings (Charlotte) of Chatham, Virginia. A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, August 8, 2026, at 3:00 p.m. at Wrenn-Yeatts North Main Chapel with Dr. Albert Payne officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 1:30 until 2:45 p.m., prior to the service. Wrenn-Yeatts North Main Chapel is respectfully serving the Hastings family.
