Dewey Pruitt

Mr. Dewey James Â?JimÂ? Pruitt, age 77 of 134 Lamberth Drive, died late Thursday evening at Piney Forest Health Care where he had been a patient for one week and a decline in health for twelve years. Mr. Pruitt was born on February 9, 1932 in Red Jacket, W. Va., a son of the late Charlie E. Pruitt and the late Exie Pearl Hess Pruitt. He had lived most of his life in Danville where he was employed by Danville Regional Medical Center as an Certified Nursing Assistant until his retirement. He honorably served in the U.S. Marine Corps. He was a member of the Longview Friends Church. On June 9, 1995 he was married to Eleanor Harville Pruitt. In addition to his wife of the residence, he is survived by his five daughters, Debbie Fuller and husband, Richard of Chatham, Va., Donna Postula and husband, Paul of Livonia, Mich., Teresa Barbour and husband, Brian of Danville, Nellie Jane Saunders and husband, Jeffery of Bedford, Va., Lisa Pruitt of Bedford, Va., one stepdaughter, Allison Hinton and husband, Jerry of Danville, three stepsons, Junior Bray of Virginia, Rodney Bray and wife, Darlene of Spring Garden, James Marlow and wife, Christy of Lynchburg, Va., one sister, Gladys P. Hedge of Danville, two brothers, Ted E. Pruitt of Alexandria, Va., Cecil C. Pruitt of Ashland, Ky. He is also survived by thirteen grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. He was predeceased by a stepson, Jimmy Harville, three sisters, Bonnie L. Pruitt Evans, Thelma L. Pruitt Elswick and Juanita Pruitt Newberry. Funeral services will be conducted at 4:oo pm. Sunday, June 14, 2009 from the Longview Friends Church by the Rev. Ed Dodson and with Military Honors to be presented by American Legion, Dan River Post 1097. The family will receive friends at 7:00 to 8:30 pm., Saturday, June 13, 2009 at Longview Friends Church. The family request that memorials maybe sent to Longview Friends Church, 128 Longview Drive, Danville, Va. 24541. At other times the family will be at the residence, 134 Lamberth Drive, Danville, Va. Wrenn-Yeatts Funeral Home, Westover Chapel is respectfully serving the Pruitt family.
