Dorothy Snead Wall

Dorothy Elizabeth Snead Wall, 95, of 444 Pinecrest Drive, Danville, VA passed away on Friday, August 20, 2021 at Sovah Health of Martinsville after a decline in her health for the past six months. Mrs. Wall was born on February 13, 1926 in Purley, NC, a daughter of the late Bernard Thomas Snead and Mary Carmichael Snead. She lived most of her life in Danville, VA, and was a member of Vandola Baptist Church. Mrs. Wall worked at Dan River Mills, Stoney Mill Elementary School, and 21 years with Roman Eagle Nursing Home as a dietician until the age of 80. She lived a long, full and independent life. She loved being outside tending to many plants and flowers. She enjoyed sewing and crafts, and helped with the Women’s Mission Baby Blanket Project at Hillcrest Baptist Church. She was a fan of Elvis Presley and watching soap operas which she enjoyed for many, many years. Her family was her pride and joy. On September 29, 1950 she married Woodrow Thornton Wall, who died on July 8, 1975. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by a daughter, Linda Delores Vaughan; a brother, Ernest Snead; a half sister, Frances Smith; and four half brothers. She is survived by three sons, Steve Wall (Janice) of Gretna, VA, Lee Wall (Donna) of Roanoke Rapids, NC, and Ricky Wall (Sharon) of Myrtle Beach, SC; a daughter, Janice Hodges (George) of Nathalie, VA; a son/grandson, Donnie Vaughan (Tammy) of Danville, VA; a half sister, Vicky Slate of Danville, VA; a half brother, Louie Ray Snead of Danville, VA; Special Niece and Nephew: Hazel & Robert. Eleven grandchildren, Erin Wall, Michael Wall, Megan Bryant, Andrew Wall, Nathan Wall, Natalie Wall, Jonathan Butts, Beth Hodges, Mary Thomas, Shelby Vaughan and Colby Vaughan; As well as 10 great grandchildren. A graveside service will be held on Monday, August 23, 2021 at 11:00 AM at Danville Memorial Gardens with the Reverend Scott Bortz officiating. The family will receive friends on Sunday, August 22, 2021 at the Wrenn-Yeatts Westover Chapel from 4:00 until 5:30 PM and at other times they will be at the residence. Also, the family suggests memorials may be made to a charity of your choice. Wrenn-Yeatts Westover Chapel is serving the Wall family.
