Forresteen Griffin Bowling

Forresteen Griffin Bowling of Danville, VA, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on January 24, 2026 at the age of 81 after a long fought battle with Alzheimer's and Lewy Body Dementia. She lived a life marked by commitment to and love for her family and friends. Forresteen was born on September 30, 1944, in Caswell County, NC, to the late Robert Snow and Annie Evelyn Snead Griffin of Milton, NC. On August 24, 1965, she married the love of her life, the late Thomas Bowling. She was also predeceased by her siblings, Dude Griffin, Raynell Horsley, Leon Griffin, and Fuzzy Griffin. Forresteen attended Bartlett Yancey High School and worked as a weaving instructor at Dan River Inc. Later, she was employed by Roman Eagle Rehabilitation and Health Care until her retirement. A dedicated member of Woodlawn Baptist Church and the Faith Sunday School class, she served in various roles. She was a talented cook, had a passion for thrift shopping for others, enjoyed working in the yard, and was always singing a happy tune. Above all, she cherished time spent with her family, leaving behind more love than could be imagined. She is survived by her six children: Vivian Adkerson (Ricky) of Dry Fork; Venus Sowell (Jimmy) of Inverness, FL; Cheryl Windsor (Patrick) of Pittsboro, NC; Jimmy Bowling (Stacy) of Milton, NC; Toni Harvey (Kevin) of Dry Fork; and Tommy Bowling (Robin) of Milton, NC; eleven grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews, all of whom were the pride and joy of her life. A funeral service will be conducted on Saturday, January 31, 2026 at 10:00 A.M. at the Wrenn-Yeatts Westover Chapel. Interment will follow the service in Danville Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6:00 P.M. to 7:30 P.M. at the funeral home.
