Mary Tomlinson

Miss Mary M. Tomlinson, 84, died Sunday, August 23, 2009 at the Roman Eagle Nursing Home in Danville, VA. Born October 25, 1924 in Blackwater, Virginia, Mary was a member of Blackwater Lick Primitive Baptist Church. She professed faith in Jesus Christ at an early age and was baptized. Mary lived and worked on the family farm in Blackwater until her health failed and she went to live in Danville, VA. She was predeceased by her parents, Henry Clay Tomlinson and Martha Russell Tomlinson; her sisters, Lexie Tomlinson Bledsoe of Dayton, OH and Clara Eva Tomlinson of Blackwater; and a great-nephew, Joshua High. Mary is survived by one sister, Manie Tomlinson Scott, and husband, Billy Ray, of Danville, VA; five nieces, Barbara Bledsoe Humphrey, of Dayton, OH, Sharon Scott Reaves, and husband, Don, of Blairs, VA, Joyce Scott Snead, and husband, Carl, of Blairs, VA, Debra Scott Morris, and husband, Tommy, of Rustburg, VA, and Donna Scott Sewell, and husband Rick, of Rustburg, VA; two nephews, Ronald Bledsoe, and wife , Naomi, of Dayton, OH, and Tommy Bledsoe, of Dayton, OH; two great-nieces, Lindsey and Emily Morris of Rustburg, VA; five great-nephews , David Humphrey, and wife, Laura of Columbus, OH, Brian Humphrey, of Dayton, OH, Scott Reaves, and wife , Jenny, of Oliver Springs, TN, and Justin and Jacob High, of Rustburg, VA; one great-great niece, Madison Reaves, of Oliver Springs, TN; and one great-great nephew, Austin Humphrey of Dayton, OH. Mary loved the outdoors, gardening, and sharing the items she harvested and preserved with family and friends. Prior to MaryÂ?s illness, she had an exceptional memory of dates, places, names, and events and would often recite them for others in the family or friends. She valued and loved her family so very much and would light up when any of them visited her. She often referred to her family members as Â?my sweet sister, niece, nephew, etc.Â? when talking with them. The family will receive friends at Robinette Funeral Home on Saturday, August 29, 2009 from 11am to noon with the funeral to follow at noon. Interment will follow at the McPherson Cemetery in Blackwater, VA. Robinette Funeral Home in Blackwater, VA and Wrenn-Yeatts Westover Chapel Danville, VA is handling the arrangements.
