Raymond Hyler

Mr. Raymond Bradford Hyler, age 77 of 598 Mangrums Road, Danville, died Saturday morning, June 12, 2010 at his residence after a decline in health for the past six months. Mr. Hyler was born on March 22, 1933 in Pittsylvania County, a son of the late Robert Allen Hyler and the late Helen Haley Hyler. He had lived most of his life in the Danville area. He attended Brosville School. He was employed in the Maintenance Department of Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company for twenty two years until his retirement. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in Germany. He was a member of Faith Memorial Baptist Church, a member of SOAR, Retiree Club, a member of the Improved Order of Redmen, Poquson Tribe # 124, Degree of Pocohontas, Wyanette Council #22, and a former member of the Brosville Ruritan Club. He was first married to Ruth McBride Hyler, who predeceased him on February 3, 1998. On June 16, 2001, he married Dianne Jones Hyler, who survives. In addition to his wife of the residence, he is survived by two sons, Jimmy Hyler and Gary Hyler both of Danville, two grandsons, Chris Hyler and wife, Samantha of Lynchburg, Bret Hyler and wife, Ashleigh of Scottsville, one great granddaughter, Julia Marie Hyler, six sisters, Mary H. Fitch and husband, Jim of Baltimore, MD., Betty H. Loeb and husband, Ralph , Joyce H. Marshall and husband, Rocky, Linda H. Turner and husband, Doug, Virginia H. Murphy and husband, Leonard, Edna Mitchell all of Danville, one brother, Robert Â?BobbyÂ? Allen Hyler, Jr. and wife, Martha of Danville and one step son, Jeffery R. Powell of Danville, VA. He is survived by a number of nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Irene H. Haymore and brothers, Terrance Hyler, Herman Â?GabbyÂ? Hyler and William Â?BillÂ? Hyler, Sr. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm., Tuesday, June 15, 2010 at Faith Memorial Baptist Church by Rev. Daniel Lackey and Rev. Austin Merricks. Interment will follow in Floral Hills Memory Gardens with Military Rites to be conducted by Dan River Post 1097, American Legion Honor Guard. The family will receive friends at Wrenn-Yeatts Westover Chapel, Monday evening, June 14, 2010 from 7:00 to 8:30 pm. and at other times the family will be at the residence, 598 Mangrums Road. The family respectfully request that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Faith Memorial Baptist Church Building Fund or Youth Ministry, 750 Martinsville Highway, Danville, Va. 24541 or to the Danville Cancer Association, 2323 Riverside Drive, Danville, Va. 24541.
