Robert E. Leigh

Robert E. Leigh, 62, of Danville went to his heavenly home on Saturday, September 30, 2023. Born in Danville, VA on June 20, 1961 the son of the late James Leigh and Nora Dowdy Leigh Robert was employed with Piney Forest Health and Rehab as Director of Maintenance and a former Maintenance employee for 30 years at Danville Regional Medical Center. He was an active member of Lakewood Community Church having served with the Board of Stewards along with singing in the choir. Robert also loved giving back to his community. He was a former member of the Danville Life Saving Crew, Angel Search and Rescue and a volunteer with God’s Pit Crew along with the American Cancer Association. Robert had also worked part-time with Wrenn-Yeatts Funeral Home. On March 2, 2001 he married the love of his life Tina Lee Reed Leigh, of the residence. Survivors also include a daughter Katie Updike (Norman) of Gretna VA; son, Brandon Davis (Charlotte) of Kansas City; daughter, Leann Davis of Chattanooga Tenn.; daughter Jenna Pryor (Cody) of Danville. six grandchildren, Austin Updike, Rhianna Updike, Salem Leigh, Brayden Chapell, Harper Pryor and Oberon Leigh and a Goddaughter, Nia Peatross. Five nieces and nephews; Andrea, Kyle, Miranda, Abigail and Adam. And two great nieces; Olivia and Evelyn.; one sister by choice Michelle Brandon (Scott) of Danville; one brother James Meeks of Bristol, VA; and a special friend of over 30 years who even shared the same birthday, Jud Buchanan. Robert was preceded in death by one sister Vickie Kennon. A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday October 7, 2023 at 2:00 PM at Lakewood Community Church with Pastor Ryan Call officiating. A time of fellowship will occur after the service in the Lakewood Community Church Family Life center with light refreshments being served. While Robert’s family grieves at his unexpected passing, they are confident that he is enjoying the reward of a life that was committed to his relationship with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. The family will be receiving friends at 161 Afton Road Danville VA. the home of Jenna and Cody. In lieu of flowers, the family suggest that memorial donations be made to the Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Danville Area, 1005 N.
